Aims
To evaluate cases in which the treatment of choice was the application of an OTSC (Padlock) by the endoscopy team of the State University of Campinas between 2020-2025.
Methods
Single-center case series.
Results
Seventeen patients were evaluated; there was a predominance of males (52.94%) and the mean age was 53.14 years. At our service, OTSC were mainly used for the treatment of fistulas (60%), followed by GI bleeding. Concerning the GI bleeding cases, OTSC was the primary treatment in 83% of cases. OTSC were successfully applied to 100% of the patients. Among the patients included for fistula treatment, recurrence of the fistula was observed in only one patient (10%), while the other cases were considered technically successful (90%). The most common fistula was a tracheoesophageal fistula due to prolonged intubation (2 patients). Among patients with gastrointestinal bleeding, recurrence of bleeding was observed in two cases. These patients were treated with conventional clips over the Padlock. There were no gastrointestinal bleeding-related deaths. Thhere were no deaths or complications resulting from the treatment
Conclusions
The Padlock clip was found to be effective and safe in our case series as a treatment for fistulas and gastrointestinal bleeding. Technical success was achieved in all cases and clinical success in most of the included patients.
