“A Rare Case of Gastroscope Trapped inside an EUS-Hepaticogastrostomy Stent Rescued by Dual-Scope Technique”
Poster Abstract
Abstract Text
EUS-HGS stent related adverse events occur in approximately 3% of procedures, mainly due to stent migration or dysfunction. We report the first documented case of a gastroscopy becoming trapped inside an HGS stent. A 46-year-old woman with stage IIIC ovarian cancer underwent EUS-HGS after failing ERCP. During check-up, the gastroscopy stuck inside stent lumen due to radial force and misalignment. Initial forceps retrieval failed. Another gastroscope was introduced simultaneously (dual-scope technique) to grasp the stent mesh and gently release the trapped scope without complication. This case highlights a rare complication and demonstrates the effectiveness of the dual-scope technique as a rescue approach in this situation.
