Green urine as an adverse reaction in patient who received an infusion of propofol for sedation in the intensive care unit (ICU)
Poster Abstract
Abstract Text
A 65-year-old man was admitted to the intensive care unit for bilateral pneumonia requiring invasive mechanical ventilation and requiring the use of sedative drugs in continuous perfusion. In this context, the patient presents with upper gastrointestinal bleeding secondary to a gastric ulcer.
Urgent upper gastrointestinal endoscopy was performed, increasing the continuous infusion of Propofol 2% to a dose of 3 mg/Kg/h. 12 hours after its infusion, the patient began to have greenish coluria, with no signs of associated urinary infection. After 12 hours of discontinuing the drug, the coluria disappears, with clear, yellowish urine that appears normal.
