Endoscopic Electroporation for Local Tumor Control in Colon Cancer: A Case Report of an Elderly, Non-Surgical Candidate
Poster Abstract

Abstract Text

An 87-year-old man underwent colonoscopy for anemia.  A large 50mm JNET 2B granular mixed nodular type laterally spreading tumor was found at rectosigmoid junction, covering >50% of the lumen. Histology on biopsies revealed a moderate differentiation adenocarcinoma with indication of tumor invasion of the muscularis propria. Patient was unfit for surgery due to many comorbidities (severe cardiovascular disease). Endoscopic electroporation was decided. Overall, this video shows a novel treatment option for colon malignancy when surgery is not feasible, with promising symptomatic and local effects. Despite encouraging results, further clinical evidence is needed to confirm the safety, feasibility and long – term outcomes of endoscopic electroporation as an oncologic treatment.
